Hey boys and girls! Sorry for the lack of updates lately but
I have spent the past two months working in the middle of nowhere and had no
internet access unless I wanted to pay $3.30 for 30 minutes worth of internet
and I think we all know I’m far too cheap for that!
Aside from slaving away in the scorching heat (Morawa was
the hottest place on earth one day while I was there) I have had a few exciting
days since I last posted. I had a lovely Christmas with Jesse and his family
and while it was quite different from a Canadian Christmas I still had a great
time. We also celebrated Australia Day with a barbecue and just last week we
took Jesse’s niece and nephew to Penguin Island for the day. It was a fun day
but a good reminder that I am so not ready for kids!
Tomorrow I am leaving for the last phase of my Australian
adventure. It is hard to believe it has been almost a year since I arrived but
apparently it has and I have to be out of the country by next Saturday (Feb 15th).
I have seen a fair bit of the country during my time here but most people think
of the Great Barrier Reef or the Sydney Opera House when they think of
Australia and those are two things I have not yet experienced. So tomorrow I am
hopping on an airplane for the first time in almost year and am making my way
to the east coast to check out some of the countries more famous landmarks.
I kind of left things to the last minute because what fun is
an adventure if you’re not rushing around like a crazy person? We have a lot of
stuff to cram into the next week but as long as the weather cooperates I’m
hoping for a fantastic last week in Australia before heading off to New Zealand
and starting the next chapter of this journey.
I could write pages and pages about everything I have
planned in the coming weeks but for today I think I will keep things short and
sweet for now but I will be updating more frequently over the next little while.
